11/05/2007 - Cincinnati, OH (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson has been diagnosed with a neck strain, head coach Marvin Lewis said Monday.
Lewis also said that Johnson has an opportunity to play in Week 10, when the Bengals take on the Ravens in Baltimore.
Johnson was carted off the field late in the fourth quarter after taking a nasty hit in Cincinnati's 33-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Bengals receiver dove for a pass over the middle at the Buffalo 38-yard line.
He couldn't come up with the catch, and was then crushed by Bills defenders Donte Whitner and Coy Wire into the turf. He remained down for several minutes, before being wheeled off the field immobilized in a stretcher.
Johnson had movement in his arms, fingers, and legs, and never lost consciousness, Lewis confirmed after the game. Johnson had three catches for 48 yards in the game, another disappointing loss for the 2-6 Bengals.
